Sabvoton 72200: what this controller is and who needs it

Sabvoton SVMC72200 is a programmable motor controller. What the SVMC72200 is

It is a programmable sine-wave field-oriented controller made by MQCON, better known under the Sabvoton brand. According to the MQCON product sheet, checked on 29 September 2026, the classic version supports nominal 48, 60 and 72 V batteries, draws up to 200 A from the battery and up to 450 A phase current, weighs about 2.2 kg and measures 283 x 147 x 62 mm. Parameters are set through a phone app or PC software, and regenerative braking is supported. The 200 in the name is the battery current class, not the motor's power.

Why people fit it on a Sur-Ron

The stock Light Bee controller limits current to protect the motor and battery. The controller rating is a ceiling, not a current it always draws. Battery-current and phase-current limits must be set separately for the actual battery, BMS, motor and wiring. Exceeding the battery limit can trigger protection or damage components. A controller change alone does not establish a safe power increase.

What to check before ordering

• your battery voltage and the current its BMS allows;
• motor sensors: hall or encoder, the type must match the controller;
• connectors: the stock Sur-Ron loom does not mate with the Sabvoton harness without adapters or repinning;
• mounting space: the 283 x 147 mm case is noticeably larger than the Light Bee stock unit;
• who will set the parameters: the factory preset knows neither your motor nor your battery.

Frequently asked questions

Will the SVMC72200 fit a Light Bee X?

Fitment is not confirmed by the model name alone. Check the exact bike generation, controller version, mounting dimensions, sensor protocol and wiring. The 200 A battery-current rating does not establish what the stock battery or motor can safely sustain.

How does Sabvoton differ from Fardriver?

Can I change only the controller and keep the stock battery?
